About Work Lekker

Work Lekker is a Cape Town-based web development and automation studio. We design and build websites with automation and AI in the foundation — so the day you launch, it's already working: answering, qualifying, booking, following up. Unlike traditional agencies that stop at "pretty and launched," we build systems that actually generate results.

We're based in Cape Town, South Africa, but we work with businesses nationwide (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban) and internationally. Remote work is standard for us — video calls, staging sites for review, and async communication.

"Lekker" is South African slang for "good" or "excellent." Work Lekker means work that feels good — not the grind or the busywork. We build systems that handle the busywork so your team can focus on work that actually matters.

No. We're based in South Africa but work with clients globally. Our portfolio of businesses (NSC Past Papers, Port Watch, Schelidas) serves users across South Africa and beyond. We bring international standards to local markets.

Services & capabilities

We offer web development, business automation, AI integration, and analytics/reporting. Specifically: custom websites, e-commerce stores, web applications; workflow automation, booking systems, invoicing, lead response; AI agents for customer service, lead qualification, content recommendations; and BI dashboards, marketing attribution, sales forecasting, customer analytics.

Yes. Unlike agencies that disappear after 30 days, we offer monthly support partnerships. We monitor uptime, track performance, fix bugs, and send optimization reports. Your site is never "done" — it evolves with your business.

We build on modern frameworks: Next.js, React, Vue, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Supabase, AWS, and more. We don't rely on proprietary drag-and-drop builders — you own the code and can scale without platform lock-in.

Yes, but it's not our default. For most projects we recommend modern frameworks (Next.js) for better performance and security. If you have an existing WordPress site you love, we can optimize it. If you're starting fresh, we'll recommend the best stack for your goals.

Web development

Simple 5-10 page business website: R15,000 - R30,000 (4-6 weeks). E-commerce store: R25,000 - R60,000 (6-10 weeks). Custom web application: R40,000+ (8-16+ weeks). Every project is different — we quote based on scope, not cookie-cutter packages.

4-10 weeks depending on complexity. Simple business sites: 4-6 weeks. E-commerce: 6-10 weeks. Custom web applications: 8-16+ weeks. We prioritize speed without cutting corners — your site launches when it's ready, not when an arbitrary deadline hits.

We recommend and set up hosting on modern platforms (Vercel, Netlify, AWS) that are faster and more reliable than traditional cPanel hosting. We don't resell hosting — we set you up directly with providers so you own the account. Typical cost: R200-R800/month.

Yes. We audit your current site, identify what's working (content, rankings, backlinks) and what's not (design, speed, conversions), then rebuild on a modern stack while preserving your best assets. Many redesign clients see 2-3x improvement in lead quality and conversions.

Business automation

Almost any repetitive, rule-based process: lead capture and follow-up, booking and scheduling, invoicing and payments, data entry between tools, reporting and analytics, customer communication, internal notifications, order processing, inventory updates, and more. If it's repetitive and manual, it's likely automatable.

Rule of thumb: if a task takes more than 2 hours per week and is repeated consistently, automation likely pays for itself within 3-6 months. We run a formal ROI calculation as part of our audit — we only recommend automations where the math makes sense.

No. Automation replaces tasks, not jobs. Your team shifts from data entry to relationship-building, from spreadsheets to strategy, from repetitive work to high-value work. Most clients don't downsize — they grow without adding headcount.

AI integration

We build safeguards: AI only answers from its knowledge base (no hallucinations), acknowledges uncertainty, and escalates when uncertain. We also monitor conversations and refine performance based on real usage. You'll see improvement over time.

It can be, but we focus on ROI-positive use cases. Single AI agent projects: R15,000 - R40,000 (6-10 weeks). Many clients start small, prove value, then expand. If a use case doesn't pay for itself within 3-6 months, we don't recommend it.

No. We handle all technical setup. Your team interacts with AI through normal channels (WhatsApp, web chat, Slack) — no special software needed. We provide training on how to review AI performance and provide feedback.

Analytics & reporting

We build BI dashboards, marketing attribution systems, sales pipeline tracking, customer analytics, operational dashboards, and financial reporting. We use Google Looker Studio, Metabase, Power BI, or custom dashboards depending on your needs.

No. We design dashboards for business people, not data scientists. We use plain language, clear visuals, and focus on metrics that drive decisions. We train your team on interpretation and action.

Website analytics: near real-time (15-30 minutes). Marketing platforms: daily. Financial data: daily. Some systems (custom databases) can update instantly. We set update frequencies based on how you'll actually use the data.

Pricing & payment

Standard process: 50% deposit to start, 25% at design approval, 25% at launch. For larger projects (R50k+) we can structure milestone payments. You only pay for work completed, not upfront for the entire project. Monthly support is billed separately, month-to-month.

Initial discovery calls are free. For formal project scoping, we offer paid audits and roadmaps (R7,500 - R15,000 depending on scope). This fee is credited back if you proceed with the full project.

Monthly support (R2,500 - R7,500 depending on scope) includes uptime monitoring, bug fixes, security updates, performance optimization, and monthly reports. For web development projects it also includes small content updates. Larger changes are billed hourly or quoted separately.

Process & timeline

Discovery (research, requirements) → Design (wireframes, mockups) → Development (build, test) → Launch (deploy, training) → Support (ongoing). We involve you at key milestones, not just at the end.

We can, but we don't rush quality. If you have a hard deadline (e.g. an event launch), we'll assess feasibility and be honest about what's realistic. We'd rather deliver something great in 6 weeks than something rushed in 4.

Getting started

Start by WhatsApp or email to book a discovery call. We'll discuss your goals, challenges, and budget. If it's a good fit, we'll scope the project and provide a proposal. Most projects start with a paid audit or roadmap.

Think about: what problem are you trying to solve, what does success look like, and what's your timeline and budget? Have examples of sites or systems you like (or dislike). You don't need to have everything figured out — we help clarify.

We're happy to help with smaller projects. If your needs are modest, we'll be transparent about whether our services are the right fit or whether a simpler solution (DIY tools, freelancers) might be more cost-effective.
